1. Introduction In the second half of the 1930s, two Belgian authors-translators, Stijn Streuvels and Camille Melloy, were simultaneously translating each other’s (children’s) novels. Streuvels translated Melloy’s Cinq Contes de Noël (1934a) in Dutch and Melloy translated Het Kerstekind (1911) by Streuvels into French.
