Les archives de l’EPPFE : une porte d’entrée vers l’analyse du champ du français langue étrangère ?

Cet article vise à esquisser les pistes possibles de recherche ayant comme base les fonds d’archives de l’École de Préparation des Professeurs de Français à l’Étranger et de son évolution entre 1920 et 1985. En effet, exhumées dans le cadre du projet CLIODIFLE, ses archives, actuel département de Didactique du français langue étrangère à l’Université Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris), permettent de porter un nouveau regard sur la constitution du champ de l’enseignement et de l’apprentissage du français langue étrangère. Trois axes d’exploration seront proposés : il s’agira tout d’abord d’établir comment la création de réseaux institutionnels ont sous-tendu le développement administratif et pédagogique de l’École, puis de définir comment la réflexion autour de l’acte pédagogique et des rapports à l’étranger ont influé l’évolution des programmes pédagogiques des futurs professeurs à l’étranger et, finalement, de déterminer comment les circulations des enseignants, des étudiants et des savoirs sont constitutifs de rapports géopolitiques à l’intérieur du champ de l’enseignement et de l’apprentissage du français langue étrangère.

This paper aims to suggest directions for further researches within archives of the École de Préparation des Professeurs de Français à l’Étranger and its transformations from 1920 to 1985. Unearthed as part of the CLIODIFLE project, the archive of the School for Preparation of French teachers abroad, which has become the current-day department of Didactics of French as a Foreign Language, at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University (Paris), allows us to take a new look at the constitution of the field of the teaching and learning of French as foreign language. Three axes will be explored in this article : it will first be a matter of showing how the creation of institutional networks underpinned the administrative and pedagogical development of the School, then of defining how the reflection on the educational act and on relations with foreigners and foreign countries have influenced the evolution of the educational programs of future teachers abroad and, finally, of determining how the circulation of teachers, students and knowledge is constituent of geopolitical relationships within the field of teaching and learning French as a foreign language.
