The use of spoken and multimodal corpora of interactions for teaching purposes is beginning to appear and to prove efficient in the field of French as a foreign language (FFL) teaching. It is still non-existent in the field of language training for adult migrants, even though participation in verbal interactions is at the core of their integration. In this study, we show how to integrate corpora of interactions into French as a language of integration (FLI) training courses by using corpus analysis methodologies. We will see how teaching methods can be provided with useful tools that help learners understand how interactions work. We will present two processes for the acquisition of interactional competences – one with corpora and one using data-driven learning – by migrants with a low educational level who are beginners in French.
