Résumé 0

Religious expression at work (REW) is an important managerial concern. By positioning managers as norm producers, we study their first confrontation with this phenomenon in order to better understand the problems of alignment between organizational and operational postures, and by considering this first confrontation as quasi-jurisdictional. Four types of alignment are highlighted: (1) ex-ante alignment via operations; (2) ex-post realignment; (3) deferred alignment; and (4) absence of alignment. The results suggest that top management should anticipate the definition of the organizational posture, and call for a broader view of management as a quasi-jurisdictional system.
