Each year, several tens of thousands of young migrants are enrolled in the French schoolsystem. Whether they arrive alone or with family, their migratory path depends on the decisionsof adults, and each path is different. The child’s point of view on the migration experienceaffects their socio-educational inclusion, as well as their relationship to the first languages andthe current additional language, French. In this article, we analyze the potential cognitiveimpacts underlying the tension between migration and the psycholinguistic process. We rely ontestimonies from migrant children and teenagers encountered during our research projects.Their behaviour is diverse, ranging from rejection to overinvestment. The intersection ofsociological and didactic perspectives allows us to highlight the interdependence of lifesituations and language biographies

Plusieurs dizaines de milliers d’enfants migrants intègrent chaque année le système scolaire français. L’appréhension de ces mobilités par les enfants affecte leur inclusion socio-scolaire, ainsi que leur rapport aux langues première et seconde. À partir de témoignages d’enfants et d’adolescents les auteures analysent des potentiels impacts cognitifs sous-jacents à la tension entre la migration et le processus psycholinguistique. Le croisement des regards sociologique et didactique permet de mettre en lumière l’interdépendance des situations de vie et des biographies langagières.
