This paper draws on social and cultural diversity in Spain in the last decades. Starting from this perspective, we discuss the main paradigms about cultural diversity, taking positions in favour of intercultural approaches. Then we analyse the development of Mediation for social inclusion in Spain, including sectors related to education, communities and migrations. Finally, we present the contributions from a European Project with collaborative approach, that has as main goals to increase knowledge on mediation, identify and disseminate good practices on this sector, as well as to develop professionalism of mediators and to train mediators through European mobility. Our paper summarises the training modele applied in January 2016 as well as its initial results, implications and challenges for improving work developed by social mediators. The participation of five European countries allow us to take a comparative perspective that can contribute to the currents and emergind debates on mediation in Europe and beyond.
