Résumé 0

Let us focus on marriage, a rite that marks entry into adulthood. The children of Tamil immigrants move among multiple representations. From a love marriage to an arranged one, from a traditional marriage to a modern one, from a homogamous marriage to a mixed one, from a required marriage to an optional one. . . What marriage strategies will they manifest in order to connect the different worlds to which they belong? Qualitative analysis via the complementarist method of interviews conducted with young Franco-Tamil women shows that their matrimonial choices are respectful of each world of belonging, by being creative and mixed. Thus, marriage strategies seem to be based on a subtle blend of filiation and affiliations.
