As a result of the literature request for a methodological and conceptual renewal, this communication initiates an original approach for the study of social support in enterprise restructuring and downsizing : it analyzes the coordination arrangements of the network of actors involved in the outplacement process to examine the operationalization of the outplacement. These coordination artifacts are considered as boundary objects that convey an invisible infrastructure of interpretation of employability to the different social worlds of outplacement. A multi-level case study of the boundary objects of outplacement is conducted in a complex Layoffs procedure (Air Littoral airline group in 2004-2005, with 856 dismissals) and it analyses and sheds a light on six boundary objects, the way the actors use them and their employability infrastructure.

Répondant à une demande de renouvellement théorique et méthodologique exprimée dans la littérature, cette communication adopte une approche originale de l’étude de l’accompagnement social des restructurations d’entreprise : elle analyse l’opérationnalisation du reclassement à partir des artefacts de coordination des acteurs impliqués dans le processus. Ces artefacts sont considérés comme des objets-frontières, qui véhiculent une infrastructure invisible d’interprétation de l’employabilité propre aux différents mondes sociaux présents. L’étude de cas exploratoire multi-niveaux de la cellule de reclassement d’un Plan de Sauvegarde de l’Emploi complexe et de grande ampleur (celui du groupe de transport aérien Air Littoral en 2004-2005, avec 856 licenciements) permet alors d’analyser six objets- frontières, leur manipulation par les acteurs et leur infrastructure sur l’employabilité.
