The special interest raised by the concept of intercomprehension in several regions of the African and American continents, as a consequence of thesociolinguistic situations specific to those regions, moves us to initiate some reflexions on these spaces of mobility. First of all, we will discuss some aspects related to the definition of the concept ; then, after having examined the features of the emergent interest of intercomprehension in two regions (Western Africa and the Caribbean), we will analyse how such interest may lead to re-examine and consolidate the three-dimensional nature of the concept.
