Reprises de l'adulte et socialisation de l'enfant wolof (Sénégal)

Résumé 0

The aim of the present study is to show how repetitions and recasts made by the child’s interlocutors are means to teach young children culturally relevant uses of language. Two Wolof girls, aged 2 and 3, are observed in conversation and in play situations with adults (their mothers or other familiar adults) and with older children. Repetitions and recasts are very frequent, especially in adults, for the 2-year old as well as for the 3-year old little girls. These conversational behaviors correspond to seek-agreement strategies and contribute to emphasize key-themes in the social exchange.
